Son of Reuben Woodford and Frances Delight Yaw (Bennett) Van Dyke; grandson of Samuel and Lurania (Denison) Yaw; great-grandson of Nathaniel and Fanny (Lewis) Denison; great2-grandson of George Denison.
George Denison private. Enlisted March, 1782, for nine months in Capt. Richard's Company at New London, Connecticut. Marched to West Point, New York, and joined Col. Sherman's Regiment and drilled for a month. Was taken sick and sent to New Windsor Hospital, where he remained three months. After rejoining his regiment was detailed to guard Gen. McDougall, who had been placed under arrest. Pensioned.
