He ultimately attained rank of Brigade Major under Gen. Wayne stationed at Chad's Ford on Brandywine, September 11th, 1777. While reconnoitering he and Col. Frazer were made prisoners by the British and taken to Philadelphia, where he was kept prisoner until 1780.
